If you wanna see them, click this link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pn3-9RofLjU&feature=user If those on youtube aren't clear, I'll post em here if ya want. (Any advice welcome for drawing, please dont be to mean, I'm 12, I've got stuff to learn ) Our scanner kinda messed them up a bit as in shading.....ANYWAY...... For someone who's only twelve, those are really good, Daphne. You've done really well with the detail and the proportion. If you're serious about drawing as a career, or even as a hobby, then it's not too soon to start reading books about drawing portraits to get some hints and tips. Practise makes perfect. My art teacher (I'm sure I've mentioned him before LOL) used to say: 1) Anyone can draw if they practise and observe the basic rules and 2) Drawing is 90% looking (observing) and 10% drawing. One of my own hints (if you can stand to do this) is to hold your work up to a mirror - it's a bit like seeing it through someone else's eyes - and can flag up errors in proportion and shading which may not be obvious at first. It can be tough doing this because it can make you think, "This is pants, I'm throwing it away!" So only do it if you think you can cope with it LOL. Also, another hint is that often facial features are defined by the light and shadows around them and not by actually drawing them in - this would be a good thing to practise at this stage. I hope nothing I've said has been mean, I just think that, looking at your work, you're ready to move on and you could do really well if you're serious about it, that's all You might find this link interesting.. monologues.co.uk/Portraits/Index.htmlAnyhoo... PS. I apologise if this post sounds a bit teacher-ish LOL, but then I am a teacher and this is the kind of advice I would give to my students.

Im glad you guys like them. I know,tj's my fav to, hes one of my most recent. didu guys check out the slideshow? Rain- Thank you! I checked out the page, VERY helpful! I have a tortillion, but now its messy & dark, so i think i need to buy/make a new one. I sometimes use my finger to shade, no w i see its not a very good thing to do. Te hair tutorial seems very helpful. I always have trouble with lips and hair. I also have charcoal & graphite pencils, which Lizzy told me about. I think shading is kinda hard, specially with a really messy tortillion. But you & Lizy have been really helpul I drew a peach to help me learn bout shading, in my opinion, i think i did good on my peach, which i posted on youtube, later i could post it here. Yes, I've talked about Drawing/Writing as a career, its already a hobby for me, and someday i wish to be a great artist. Thanks for the good comments! hopefully maggie & ashley see'em soon. I can post more later if u want.

Hi Daphne You might find this information useful too, if you haven't already seen something similar. www.worsleyschool.net/socialarts/body/proportions.htmlIt's about proportion. My tip would be to stick to these rules because no matter how wrong you think a picture may look if you, for instance, draw someone whose hands are as big as their face, it looks even more wrong if you give them smaller hands just because you think they should have them. That's only an example, of course. Believe it or not, a person's hand is pretty much as big as their face. I mean, we all know the story of Barbie right - she'd have 6ft legs, a 10 inch waist and an 80 inch chest if she were real and wouldn't be able to walk - in fact, she'd fall over. But somehow, she doesn't look too wrong from a distance. I collect dolls that are proportionately correct and they look to have HUGE hands and feet, which is disconcerting when you first see them, but they're in proportion. The point is, what you think you see when you're drawing isn't always how it really is. That's why someone wrote down the measurements and passed them on to artists I'm babbling LOL. I'll stop now. Hope I've helped.

Here's the peach and flower. Personally, I like the peach better,flower/vase looks kinda crappy. I drew this after my grandma got me some drawing kit with 2 charcoal, 2 graphite, tortillion, paper and a book that teaches a bit. It really helped me. I plan to buy a 9H pencil and 9B pencil, and others to, the lightest I have is 4H, the darkest 8B. I don't know, the pencils I bought were 10 pencils together, with an eraser and sharpener. 8B,6B,4B,3B,2B,B,HB,F,2H,4H. So yeah...lol. Any advice welcome

Hey Thank you! Was hoping you'd see them to! My friends say that to. I don't know why, but when I look at my work, drawings/writing ect....I don't think there good. Well....I guess it's an artists thing, I've noticed people don't seem to like their own work. Idk. Just thought I would state something. I was mad cause I didn't get art class as my first elective. I have to do WOODSHOP! I hate it. This is the schools first year with art class. Oh well, a few 8 or so weeks, and I do art......hmph. lol. I appreciate all your comments and advice. I just drew a rabbit, not very good cause I used charcoal pencils...Idk I'm not very good wih those...hehe. Hope yall saw my others. Thanks again, Geez I need to stop talking.
