Here is part 1
Regret is an intelligent and emotional dislike for personal past acts and behaviours. Regret is often felt when someone feels sadness, shame, embarrassment or guilt after committing an action or actions that the person later wishes that he or she had not done.
This is what Zack Addy felt as he stared at the same four walls that he had been staring at for the past three weeks, ever since he had admitted to being the person responsible for killing the Lobbyist as he was the apprentice to the elusive serial killer Gormogon. So he pleaded guilty at his court case and he was put into a psychiatric facility instead of being locked up. So now he was stuck staring at the same four walls for many years. He knew what he had done was wrong, but he couldn’t change that now. He hurt the ones that he loved, the people that were closest to him just because he had listened to some reasoning by a nobody.
He stared down at his bandaged hands and sighed. He had also ruined his career. He had staged the explosion so that Gormogon had the chance to steal the silver skeleton, but because he and Hodgins had started arguing the mixture had extra time to boil and become stronger and the explosion had been stronger than Zack had anticipated, so now he had lost the cartilage in his hands and he would have to have prosthetics. This meant that he would not be able to work again and he loved the job that he done. But he risked it all, his life, his friends, his job just to try and make the world a better place because that is what he was made to believe.
He knew that what he had done was wrong, as soon as Booth and Brennan had discovered the truth. As soon as he saw the look of disappointment on Brennan’s face he knew that he had done the wrong thing, that there was an inconsistency in his reasoning. He hated the fact that he had disappointed Dr Brennan. She had chosen him out of the hundreds of candidates to be her assistant and he had let her down, taken all the respect she had for him away. He had seen the pride she had in her face when he had become a doctor, knowing that she was the one to help him to reach his goal, helped to push him to the best of his ability, and he had repaid her by taking somebody’s life.
And then there was the rest of his friends. Hodgins was his best friend and he had let him down as well. He had risked his own life to save Hodgins and that was the only thing that he had to be proud of. He hoped that Hodgins wouldn’t hate him for what he done. He didn’t want to lose the best friendship that he had. Although he and Hodgins didn’t always seem to get on the two, and they were often competing for King Of The Lab, they had a great relationship and Zack was thankful for being blessed to have Hodgins in his life.
And Angela, she was more like his big sister than his friend. She would provide him with advice about sexual matters and be there for him when he needed her but the two would occasionally have some arguments, especially since he had obtained his doctorate and became her superior and she didn’t like it.
And the relationship he had with Booth, was, confusing to say the least. Booth wouldn’t talk to him and ignored him most of the times when Zack tried to attempt to make a conversation with him. Zack thought this was because Booth respected him and because it was a “guy thing” but he wasn’t really sure. Booth would sometimes talk to him confusing Zack about their relationship and where he stood with the FBI Agent.
Zack heard his door open and looked up to find a young nurse entering his room. “Good afternoon Zack” the nurse smiled as she closed the door and made her way to her patient.
“Good afternoon Ashley” Zack smiled back. Ashley had been assigned to be his nurse when he had been placed into the facility. The two had developed a friendship and Ashley would often come and visit Zack in her breaks and the two would talk. She knew what he had done but even she knew that he didn’t deserve to be in there. He wasn’t mental, he didn’t have any problems, he had just got manipulated into doing he thought was for the greater good
“How are you today?”
“I’m as good as to be expected”
“I just came to tell you that you have visitors”
Zack looked up at Ashley again. He wasn’t allowed any visitors for the first few weeks whilst he settled in and they made sure that he wasn’t going to be a threat to anyone else. Zack couldn’t help but smile, knowing who the visitors would be before he saw them. He just hoped that they wouldn’t be mad at him.
Zack stood up and Ashley lead him to the visitors room. She opened the door and watched him walk in before making her way to see another patient. Zack smiled once again when he saw his friends sitting around the table looking at him.
